Cycles. That’s the message of Judges.
Israel forgets God. Consequently, they fall under the oppression of enemies. They cry out to God and God raises up a judge/warrior who saves them. The judge/leader dies and the cycle repeats.
Catch what God says in 10:11-14? Sad stuff. Are the grace and mercies of God finite?
CS Lewis has said there are two kinds of people in the world: those who say to God “Thy will be done,” and those to whom because of their own stubbornness and defiance God says “Thy will be done.”
There are consequences to repeatedly saying “no” to God, and that’s what Israel experiences here.
