Here’s what’s happening with Fiftyeight this week.
Your invitations to mission, community and formation this week:
1… Link o’ the week… Pictures from our trip to Ghana!
2… Fiftyeight blog… Have you checked out the blog lately? This week–10 things you should know the survive college life, a Ghana update, and tips for a new student to ORU. Throughout the semester I plan to blog through Michael Spencer’s new book Mere Churchianity: Finding Your Way Back to Jesus-Shaped Spirituality, as well as the book of Jeremiah, and anything else that makes me think. So bookmark it, look for daily updates through the week, and join the conversation!
3… Owen Park… Thursday, meet at the church at 6:30. We’ll drive over to Owen Park, just northwest of the BOK Center downtown. It’s a BBQ with homeless friends and others. Come ready to crawl out of your comfort zone and meet Jesus. See more details on the website.
4… Coming this fall!… For those of you in Tulsa, Wednesdays, beginning next week, a full slate of classes is being offered at the church. I’ll be teaching through a video curriculum featuring Dr. Matthew Sleeth, from the same creative team as the NOOMA series, about creation care. There’s also Financial Peace University, as well as a Bible study with Dr. Arden Autry. A full listing is on the church website. You’ll want to be a part.
5… Table Talk… Sunday, 10:55 am, 4th floor gym at the church. There’s good food, good people, and an exploration of faith and the college life. This week we’ll dig a little deeper into what a life of community, formation and mission look like.
Questions? Let me know. Heaps of blessings on you all. Know you are prayed for this week.
Final thought…
“Do not add to the cross in your life by becoming so busy that you have no time to sit quietly before God. Do not resist what God brings into your life. Be willing to suffer if that is what is needed Overactivity and stubbornness will only increase your anguish.”
