Five Things 9.15

Your invitations to mission, community and formation this week:

1… Link o’ the week… Fiftyeight! That’s right. Our college community as an online home. Check out for all the latest news and events. Bookmark it. Memorize it. Share it with friends. 58tulsa.com.

2… Fall Retreat… October 15 & 16. Because life is too busy, and Jesus says, “Peace! Be still!” We’ll be at Shepherd’s Fold and we’re planning on high ropes course, zip line, along with some worship time and teaching about spiritual disciplines. Sign up before September 25 and the cost is just $35 (after that it’s $60). You won’t want to miss it. Online registration available very soon.

3… Campus visits… ORU: Samantha and Peter will be hosting a table at Church Rush Thursday from 5-7. Come on out and help us spread the word about the epic awesomeness that is Fiftyeight. OSU & TU: We’ll be at the football game in Stillwater on Saturday. Look for us. We’ll be looking for you.

4… Hope for Creation… This Wednesday we continue the Blessed Earth video series from Dr. Matthew Sleeth. Starts at 6:30 in room YFC 212. Look for the Fiftyeight banner at the end of the hallway.

5… Table Talk… Sunday, 10:55 am, 4th floor gym of the sanctuary building at the church. There’s good food, good people, and an exploration of faith and the college life. This week we continue our series “Everything is Spiritual.” We’ll talk about community, and how simply being with people is a part of your spiritual life.

BONUS!!!… As a way to put this “community” stuff into practice, there are two, count ’em, opportunities for FREE FOOD this Sunday. Immediately after Table Talk, there’s a free all-church lunch in the YFC. And then from 4 pm to 6 pm we’ll be having a cookout at Peter’s house (5172 E 30th St). So if you’re out of town, plan on coming to Tulsa this weekend and grabbing a bit to eat before heading back!

Questions? Let me know. Heaps of blessings on you all. Know you are prayed for this week.

Final thought…

“Scripture and prayer are not two separate entities. My pastoral work was to fuse them into a  single act: scriptureprayer, or prayerscripture. It is this fusion of God speaking to us (Scripture) and our speaking to him (prayer) that the Holy Spirit uses to form the life of Christ in us.”
