Genesis 1

Genesis 1:1–2:3

So this is where the whole world begins.

God speaks.

And at the end of it all is Sabbath. The final outcome of this burst of creative energy is Sabbath.

What if this is a poem that works like a prologue to the book of Genesis… to the Books of Moses, the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy)… to the whole Bible?

God speaks. Light in darkness. Chaos transformed to order. Humanity, the Image of God. Sabbath.

What if it sets the stage, provides all of the huge themes, that will enfold in this drama of the Bible?

So what about you? What do you see?
