One trick to reading the Bible is paying attention to repetition. Remember, in the beginning, these were told stories. Not read stories. When you can’t bold or italicize, you say it again.
So we pay attention when the snake says Did God really say… because maybe it’s not what God really said back in chapter 2. Because maybe that reveals something about the way temptation works with us.
And we pay attention when the woman (we haven’t been told her name yet) says God said… because maybe it’s not what God really said, either. Because maybe that reveals something about the way we listen to God.
What if we knew what God wanted and had the guts to say it out loud?
So what about you? What do you see?
